• It’s a party!  Our club meeting was a beachy event with most folks in Hawaiian shirt attire.   There was beachy steel drum music playing, beach balls flying and little umbrellas in our glasses!     This fun meeting was to capture pictures for the advertising and making of a video for our Runway to Paradise Party! and fundraiser.
   

• EREY - Annual Fund-Share---last year our Club did not make EREY.   It entails every member giving at least $25 to the Foundation’s Annual Fund.   So, please,  everyone contribute a tax-deductible contribution to the Rotary Foundation – Annual Share Fund.    Online link:  https://my.rotary.org/en/donate 
   

• RYLA Roundup - August 8th in Round Rock – President Linda and Aldo Rios are signed up to attend and learn more about the RYLA program.   Our Club is committed to not only funding a student to RYLA this year but also selecting the young person.   Sherrick will assist in the student selection process.

South Austin Rotary is all about service, community and family! Our member spotlight for August is Linda Boxberger.

Sylvia Morales is the Asst Director of Visitor and Volunteer Services of the Blanton Museum of Art.  Prior to this, Ms. Morales was the Director of the Texas Music Museum in Austin.  She hails from El Paso, TX, and received her Bachelors in Advertising from the University of Texas along with a Masters Degree of Science, Information Studies.

Treasurer Jim McComb had the opportunity to draw for the Queen of Hearts, and he let one of our guests select a card….but, nope! she chose the 6 of Spades.   Maybe next week!    The pot is over $1,200 which will be split with the winner and Galindo Elementary School.

• Patrick Harrison had several sunshines:

  • RI President Nominee for 2028-2029 is Bharat Pandya from Mumbai, India.  Patrick says he is a ‘good guy’!!

  • The Ukrainian Rotary membership is up over 400% since the escalated start of the Russian war (that began Feb 2022)

  • His family and other landowners have been fighting data centers from putting up transmission lines across their properties.   Last week was a 15-hour hearing that did announce the state to pay family legal fees; however, they may have to go back to court for a final verdict

  • He thanked President Linda and Sherrick for attending the RMDTI training
