Erin Schumacher is a communications professional and public policy specialist serving as the Supervisor of Communications at the Texas School for the Deaf. A proud University of Texas at Austin alum, Erin brings a strong background in legislative affairs, strategic communications, and stakeholder engagement across state government and higher education.

Prior to joining the Texas School for the Deaf, Erin served as a Program Manager at the Moritz Center for Societal Impact and Office of Governmental Affairs and Initiatives at UT Austin, where she directed legislative and policy initiatives, managed program operations, and coordinated with policymakers, researchers, and community partners to advance higher education and workforce development priorities. She has also held key roles in the Texas House of Representatives, where she specialized in policy analysis, communications strategy, and public engagement.

Erin has studied American Sign Language for over eight years. She is deeply committed to Deaf education and passionate about ensuring accessible, inclusive communication that empowers students, families, and the broader Deaf community.

In her free time, Erin enjoys cooking, hiking, and staying engaged in local public policy.
